Ingredients

Marinade Ingredients

  • ½ cup tequila gold or silver
  • ½ cup olive oil
  • 2 limes juiced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 2 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons agave nectar or honey

Optional Garnish

  • 1 bunch cilantro, roughly chopped optional

Chicken

  • 4 pieces boneless skinless chicken breasts

Instructions

  • Step 1: In a mixing bowl, combine the tequila, olive oil, lime juice, salt, pepper, onion powder, chopped garlic, and agave nectar or honey. Whisk together until well incorporated.
  • Step 2: Place the chicken breasts in a resealable plastic bag or shallow dish. Pour the marinade over the chicken, ensuring it is well coated. Seal and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, ideally 2 to 4 hours.
  • Step 3: Preheat your grill to medium-high heat and ensure the grates are clean and lightly oiled.
  • Step 4: Remove the chicken from the marinade, allowing excess to drip off. Discard the leftover marinade. Grill the chicken for 6-7 minutes per side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
  • Step 5: Let the chicken rest for about 5 minutes after grilling to allow juices to redistribute.
  • Step 6: Garnish with chopped cilantro if desired and serve with your favorite sides.

  • Mixing Bowl
  • Grill
  • Resealable Plastic Bag

Notes

For extra flavor, add fresh herbs or diced jalapeño to the marinade. Marinate overnight for deeper flavor.
