Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 cups All-purpose flour Plus more for kneading
  • 1 tablespoon Baking powder
  • ¾ teaspoon Salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup Whole milk
  • Vegetable oil For frying

Instructions

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Use a whisk to ensure the ingredients are well incorporated.
  • Pour in the whole milk gradually, mixing with a wooden spoon or your hands until a rough dough begins to form.
  • Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface. Knead gently for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces. Roll each piece out on a floured surface until it’s about ¼ inch thick.
  • In a deep skillet, heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Test if the oil is ready by dropping a small piece of dough into it.
  • Carefully place one piece of rolled dough into the hot oil. Fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.
  • Continue to fry the remaining pieces of dough, adjusting the heat as necessary.
  • Serve your Taco Fry Bread warm and let everyone customize them with their favorite taco fillings.

Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl
  • Deep Skillet
  • Wooden Spoon
  • Rolling Pin

Notes

Make sure your oil is hot enough before frying to ensure a crispy texture. If the dough feels too sticky, add a little more flour while kneading.
