Ingredients

Beef Mixture

  • 2 pounds ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • ½ cup Panko bread crumbs
  • cup yellow onion, peeled and diced
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • ½ teaspoon pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions

  • Step 1: Gather all your ingredients. Ensure the ground beef is at room temperature and finely dice the yellow onion.
  • Step 2: In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, Panko bread crumbs, diced onion, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined.
  • Step 3: Shape the mixture into oval patties, about ½ inch thick, and set aside.
  • Step 4: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add patties, ensuring space between them.
  • Step 5: Cook patties for 4-5 minutes on each side until golden-brown. Transfer to a plate and cover with foil.
  • Step 6: In the same skillet, add more oil if needed, scrape up brown bits, and add flour to create a roux. Pour in broth and simmer until thickened.
  • Step 7: Return patties to the skillet, spoon gravy over them, and simmer for a few minutes. Serve hot with sides.

Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl
  • Skillet

Notes

For extra flavor, sauté onions before adding to the beef mixture. Let patties rest in the fridge for 30 minutes before cooking.
