0.5teaspoonSalt
0.5teaspoonBlack Pepper
0.5teaspoonGarlic Powder
Chicken
3poundsBoneless, Skinless Chicken BreastsCut into 2-3 inch strips.
Frying Oil
Vegetable OilEnough to submerge chicken pieces, about 3-4 inches deep.
Instructions
Step 1: In a large mixing bowl, combine the buttermilk, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Stir thoroughly to mix all the ingredients. Add the chicken strips to the mixture, making sure they’re fully submerged. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 1-2 hours, or overnight if you have the time.
Step 2: Place a large pot or Dutch oven on the stove and pour in enough vegetable oil to submerge the chicken pieces. Heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches a temperature of 350°F (175°C).
Step 3: Remove the chicken from the buttermilk marinade. Shake off any excess buttermilk and carefully place a few chicken strips into the hot oil. Fry the chicken for about 8-10 minutes, turning occasionally until golden brown and crispy.
Step 4: For extra crispiness, let the chicken rest for about 5 minutes, then increase the oil temperature to 375°F (190°C) and fry the chicken again for an additional 2-3 minutes.
Step 5: Serve the chicken plain or toss it in your favorite Korean sauce. Enjoy with pickled radishes and steamed rice.
