Cook Time5 minutes
Total Time6 minutes
Servings: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup nuts of your choice or peanuts, pumpkin seeds, or flax seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon neutral-tasting oil
  • salt optional, to taste
  • black pepper optional, to taste
  • other seasonings optional, as desired

Instructions

  • Place the nuts in a bowl and add the oil; toss until all pieces are lightly coated.
  • Spread the nuts in a single layer on a microwave-safe plate, avoiding overcrowding so they toast evenly.
  • Microwave on high in 1-minute intervals, removing and tossing the nuts between intervals to promote even browning.
  • Continue 1-minute intervals for a total of 2 to 5 minutes, or until the nuts are golden brown and fragrant; exact time varies by microwave and nut type.
  • Season with salt, pepper, or other desired seasonings while still warm, then let cool to room temperature before serving or storing.

Equipment

  • microwave-safe plate
  • measuring cup

Notes

  • Let toasted nuts cool completely before storing.
  • Watch closely during the last minutes to prevent burning.
  • Use a neutral oil like vegetable or canola.
  • Adjust total toasting time based on nut size and microwave power.
  • Season while warm for better adhesion.
