Ingredients

Ingredients

  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ pound bacon, cut into 2-inch slices
  • to taste soft tortillas (flour or corn)
  • to taste your favorite taco toppings (shredded cabbage, diced tomatoes, avocado, cilantro, lime wedge, etc.)

Instructions

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the peeled and deveined shrimp with the ground cumin, smoked paprika, black pepper, and garlic powder. Toss the shrimp until they are evenly coated with the spices. Allow the shrimp to marinate for about 15-20 minutes to absorb all the flavors.
  • Take a slice of bacon and wrap it around each marinated shrimp. The bacon should cover the shrimp entirely, securing the edges with toothpicks if necessary.
  • Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. If you’re using wooden skewers, soak them in water for at least 30 minutes before grilling, to prevent them from burning.
  • Place the bacon-wrapped shrimp on the grill. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until the bacon is crispy and the shrimp are opaque and cooked through.
  • Warm the soft tortillas on the grill or in a skillet for about 30 seconds on each side, just until pliable. Start assembling your tacos by placing 3-4 bacon-wrapped shrimp in each tortilla. Top with your favorite taco toppings and squeeze a wedge of lime over the top.

Notes

For an extra layer of flavor, consider marinating the shrimp in lime juice for half an hour before adding the spices.
