Ingredients

Chili Ingredients

  • 2 pounds Ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • 1 large White onion, peeled and diced
  • 1 clove Garlic, minced
  • 4 cups Strained tomatoes
  • 28 ounces Canned diced tomatoes
  • 30 ounces Red kidney beans, drained and rinsed (2 cans)
  • 15 ounces Black beans, drained and rinsed (1 can)
  • 2 tablespoons Chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon Salt
  • ½ tablespoon Ground cumin
  • ½ teaspoon Smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon Dried oregano

Instructions

  • Step 1: Brown the Beef - Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up as it cooks. Drain excess fat and set aside.
  • Step 2: Sauté the Vegetables - In the same skillet, add diced onions and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes. Add minced garlic and sauté for another minute. Remove from heat.
  • Step 3: Combine Ingredients in the Slow Cooker - In the crock pot, combine browned beef, sautéed onions, garlic, strained tomatoes, diced tomatoes, kidney beans, black beans, chili powder, salt, cumin, smoked paprika, and oregano. Stir well.
  • Step 4: Slow Cook the Chili - Set the crock pot to low heat and cook for 6 to 8 hours, or on high for 3 to 4 hours.
  • Step 5: Serve and Enjoy - Ladle chili into bowls and serve with your favorite toppings like cheese, sour cream, or cilantro.

Equipment

  • Crock Pot
  • Skillet

Notes

For a heartier chili, consider adding diced bell peppers or corn. Adjust spice level with jalapeños or hot sauce.
