  • 1 small yellow onion, peeled and thinly sliced
  • ¼ cup butter, softened
  • 4 slices sourdough bread
  • 6 slices cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup beef brisket, shredded See note for preparation.
  • 2 tablespoons barbecue sauce

Instructions

  • Step 1: Prepare the Onion - Heat a skillet over medium heat, add butter, and sauté the sliced onion until soft and caramelized, about 10-15 minutes. Set aside.
  • Step 2: Mix the Brisket and Barbecue Sauce - In a medium bowl, combine the shredded brisket with barbecue sauce and mix well.
  • Step 3: Assemble the Sandwich - Spread butter on one side of each slice of bread. On the unbuttered side of two slices, layer cheese, brisket mixture, and caramelized onions. Top with remaining cheese and place the other slices on top, buttered side out.
  • Step 4: Grill the Sandwich - Heat the skillet and grill the sandwiches for 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  • Step 5: Serve and Enjoy - Remove from skillet, let cool slightly, slice in half, and serve immediately.

Notes
