Description
Crispy, tangy, and sweet homemade Orange Chicken, just like takeout but even better!
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 pounds (900g) chicken breasts, boneless and skinless, cut into 1-inch pieces
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 egg
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- ½ cup cornstarch
- ⅓ cup all-purpose flour
Instructions
- Place chicken pieces in a bowl and season with salt.
- In a separate bowl, beat the egg. In another bowl, mix cornstarch and flour.
- Dip each chicken piece in egg, then coat with the cornstarch-flour mixture.
- Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Fry chicken in batches until golden brown and crispy (about 5-7 minutes per batch). Transfer to a plate lined with paper towels.
- In a separate bowl, mix fresh orange juice, soy sauce, sugar, and garlic. Pour into the skillet and simmer over medium heat.
- Add the fried chicken to the sauce, tossing to coat. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens.
- Serve hot over steamed rice and garnish with sesame seeds or green onions.
Notes
For extra spice, add red pepper flakes. Use fresh orange juice for the best flavor.
