  • Author: Eva
  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

Crispy, tangy, and sweet homemade Orange Chicken, just like takeout but even better!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds (900g) chicken breasts, boneless and skinless, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • ½ cup cornstarch
  • ⅓ cup all-purpose flour

Instructions

  1. Place chicken pieces in a bowl and season with salt.
  2. In a separate bowl, beat the egg. In another bowl, mix cornstarch and flour.
  3. Dip each chicken piece in egg, then coat with the cornstarch-flour mixture.
  4. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Fry chicken in batches until golden brown and crispy (about 5-7 minutes per batch). Transfer to a plate lined with paper towels.
  5. In a separate bowl, mix fresh orange juice, soy sauce, sugar, and garlic. Pour into the skillet and simmer over medium heat.
  6. Add the fried chicken to the sauce, tossing to coat. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  7. Serve hot over steamed rice and garnish with sesame seeds or green onions.

Notes

For extra spice, add red pepper flakes. Use fresh orange juice for the best flavor.
