- ½ cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup light brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 1 egg white from a large egg
- 1 teaspoon water
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 1 pound (450g) or 4 cups pecans (untoasted)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, whisk together egg white, water, and vanilla extract until frothy.
- In a separate bowl, mix granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
- Add pecans to the egg white mixture and toss to coat.
- Gradually sprinkle the sugar mixture over the pecans, tossing to ensure even coating.
- Spread pecans evenly on the baking sheet.
- Bake for 25 minutes, stirring halfway through for even cooking.
- Allow pecans to cool completely on the baking sheet before storing in an airtight container.
Notes
For a spicier twist, add a pinch of cayenne pepper. Keep an eye on the pecans while baking to prevent burning.
